23/06/2018 - Great apartment at Oltrarno
The apartment was really good, I would say better for 2 people than for 4 as you have a doble bed in the room and a sleeping coach (for 2). The location for us was perfect, 5 minutes from Sto. Spirito, but having in mind that Oltrarno for us is the place to be. There was a place for hiring bikes 2 mins for the apartment. The apartment was very clean, although they cleaned it up after our arrival. And it has AC which was quite useful. It is a great place to go
16/09/2014 - Lovely location - not very quiet
The Good: We were greated by a stand-in for our host at the door, who gave us the keys and showed us around - a friendly and accommodating and really nice guy. He told us where to go for diving - an interest of ours - and gave us a few tips and tricks on what to see and where to go. The apartment is flawless - bright and sunny, gorgeously put together, new bathroom, new everything. Even the staircase to it is wonderfully decorated with large posters from films. There's a gas stove with an electrival oven so preparing meals is not a problem and the Italian coffe maker - the moka pot - was particularly nice. There is also a washing machine, microwave, hairdryer, ironing board, dishwasher - all new and basically everything needed to make life easy. The location is perfect. You're far enough away that it's outside the tourists-y areas but close enough that you can walk to Il Duomo and Ponte Vecchio and be in the centre of things. There's an Esselungs (large supermarket) just a kilometre up the road where you can get whatever you need which was important to us as we didn't eat out every night. The Bad: The only thing that deducts from the experience is the noise. On Airbnb, the previous renter also stated that it was an issue but the owner said they were in the process of putting in new windows with thicker glass. Sadly, when we went there, this had yet to happen which means there was only single-layer glass separating us from the intersection of a two lane, heavily trafficked road. The traffic dies down around 11pm but then there's the restaurant downstairs and with the sounds of happy guests traveling up, there was never quiet in the appartment. In the morning the scooters starting on green light were particularly disturbing, interrupting my sleep from early on, making it hard to get a full night's sleep I would love to recommend this flat but even my boyfriend who usually doesn't have any problems falling asleep said that he'd been bothered by the noise. When they fix the windows, this place will be a gem.
