07/10/2013 - Perfect vacation getaway
I just spent nine wonderful nights in the Florentine Top Mansion and can't say enough about how perfect it was for our group of five (two couples + one). Instead of merely having "stayed" in Florence, I feel like we actually lived there. Rather than having to cram ourselves uncomfortably into one or another hotel room when we wanted to be all together, we had an entire house to share. The four en suite bedrooms provided room and privacy for all, while the second floor solarium (surrounded by huge arched windows offering fabulous views over the river and down to the Ponte Vecchio) was the perfect place to wind down, read, or plan our next day. The fully-equipped kitchen permitted leisurely morning coffee or breakfast without having to dress and go out, and the lovely, antique-filled dining room was a great place for a light dinner when we had overeaten during the day and didn't feel like going to a restaurant. The location was also perfect, within easy walking distance to restaurants, shops, and attractions. I don't know how often or soon I'll be able to return to Florence, but I'll always think of this as my home away from home when I do.
