23/09/2017 - Fantastic apartment (with lift up) close to Ponte Vecchio

TripAdvisorTripAdvisorTripAdvisorTripAdvisorTripAdvisor

Toscanella was a great place to stay. So close to Ponte Vecchio, Pitti Palace and Santo Spirito area. We booked this apartment as it has superb location and also because it had a lift - we had 2 ladies in their 80s with us. The flat was very comfortable - even the sofa bed! You can see the Duomo from each of the lovely spacious bedrooms. Another huge bonus was how quiet it was there. The Gellateria Della Passera in the little square was fantastic - best ice creams I have had. The location of the apartment is very near many good restaurants like Trattoria 4 Leoni - 20m from the front door. There are several artisan shops nearby too. All in all, a fantastic stay. Thank you!

06/11/2015 - Superb locations and relaxing apartment

Very good apartment within easy walking distance to the attractions and good food. Well equipped and comfortable. Quiet and warm ( after you master the heating ) Just be aware of the mosquitos even in late October. Definitely would recommend

24/01/2015 - Awesome location in a great neighborhood and very spacious rooms.

We took the whole family of grown kids and had a wonderful time. The Oltrarno is much less touristy and crowded than the city side. The Via Toscanella mini-neighborhood was very welcoming with many great shops, cafes, and high-rated restaurants within a 5 minute walk. The apartment was very roomy, could probably have fit two king beds in each bedroom. The en suite bedroom is smaller and the bathroom smaller still. Watch your head in that bathroom! There's a low stone beam that our 6'4" son found the hard way. We were there in the winter and it was cold. Heating is expensive and difficult to retrofit into old stone buildings so it was cold in the apartment in the afternoons until the heater started running for nighttime. The unit manager Eleonora was hugely helpful, arranged an unexpected arrival of one of our party, wrangled in Italian with the airport baggage desk to find our bags that had been lost for days, explained the city basics and how to get around. The unit owner did take pity on us and extended the heating cycle time so that we could retreat from the outside cold (snow in the Duomo square is something to see!)

20/09/2014 - Beautiful apartment in a splendidly central yet peaceful location.

What a find! I, and two friends were planning a trip to Florence earlier this year. I found this apartment after a little research on the net, and the pictures suggested it would meet our requirements. The truth is, it well exceeded our expectations! One can get a taxi from the airport into the Centre of town from €20 - well worth it. We were met outside by a very nice lady and her friend, who immediately took us upstairs (3rd floor), and showed us the ropes - all very easy. What we weren't expecting, was the tiny glass lift (holds 3 ppl) to get upstairs. And when you step out, there's a thick glass piece in the floor to show you how high you are (!) a little disconcerting, but fine after a fashion! Anyway, the apartment itself is delightful. It is all on one level. Each room is tastefully done out, and each rooms seems to capture at least a glimpse of one of the many domes of the city. As the only female of the group, I had the luxury of the en-suite room, which I'm sure has a hand- painted ceiling depicting birds, and greenery - very lovely indeed. In total, it has 3 very spacious bedrooms with queen- sized beds, 2 bathrooms, kitchen and living room - plenty of space, and nice and airy, and all beautifully done out. The apartment is a hop-skip from a gorgeous little deli/cafe on the square (visible from the "gold" bedroom), as well as the "4 leonies" restaurant, also on the square, and one of the oldest restaurants in the city. It is well worth a visit, as the good and wine was simply marvellous & reasonable too (do book tho - we were simply lucky to get a table on the back of a cancellation). Toscanella apartment is perfect for seeing the city, due to it's central location. We did an awful lot in our few days, but do pre-book museums and the Duomo beforehand via the net, as the queues are out of this world. And have a camera handy. You want to snap everything! In all, a marvellous trip, but the apartment made it. A perfect retreat to return to of an evening, and enjoy a glass of Prosecco. I would highly recommend it, and would certainly return!
