Arrive to Florence from Rome easily by using Trenitalia

Train service from Rome to Florence
The logistics of traveling can sometimes be daunting for the new traveler. However, getting from town to town in Italy is very easy by simply using the train system. From Rome, the easiest way to arrive in Florence is by taking the Leonardo Da Vinci express from Rome Fumincino Airport to Rome Termini Station. Once at Termini there are many trains that service to Florence. The main station in Florence is "Santa Maria Novella". The fast trains on the Eurostar run almost every hour and take approximately 1 1/2 hours, costs between 40-50 euros. For Eurostar tickets you have assigned seating and a specific departure time.

If you prefer to stay on a budget, there are several Regional trains from Rome to Florence that stop frequently throughout Tuscany. The duration can be up to 4 hours, and costs as low as 16 Euros. Be mindful when entering the ramp for the trains to Florence, that you have selected the fast train (Eurostar, fancy red train) or the Regional (Blue, Green & White train). Many people have paid for the more expensive train, then arrived in Florence 4 hours later. Make sure to validate all tickets at the yellow machines at each train ramp.

You can purchase tickets online before your travels, at the station using the automated kiosks, or directly from a Trenitalia representative. For more information, scheduling and purchasing tickets online, please visit Trenitalia : In English : http://trenitalia.com/homepage_en.html

Or don't do what I did last time in Italy - purchase a ticket at a kiosk for a Regional train and then ride on an Eurostar. The conductor will charge you the difference in price plus an onboard ticket fee...
