Tips on how to access the World Wide Web.
If you are anything like me you probably feel a little cold after being away from the web for too long, emails going unread, breaking news that you would be right at your fingertips if you were at home or work. But when you are in a foreign country you may struggle to access something that used to be all around you. The idea that you can be charged for calling someone in a different country, but yet it’s free to talk to them and look at them over the web is a concept that seems to have bypassed the mobile phone operators so far.
But with smart phones getting even smarter, the need for paying high roaming charges has almost disappeared completely. Simply going into an internet café with WiFi, which is hard not do to in the center of the city, linking up to the network and sending emails, video clips and even Skypeing to friend in different countries becomes so simple and of course, free.
There is no shortage of internet cafes in Florence. Wifi is almost as common as the logo for MasterCard or Visa. In fact right now I’m writing this blog in one of my favorite cafes, simply because it’s a nice day and I felt like a coffee. That is what I love about Florence, a European cosmopolitan experience, in one of the oldest cities in the world. There are few other small cities where you can update Facebook on the same street that the great Michelangelo or Da Vinci could have walked down 500 years ago.
It has also been published recently that all the main Piazza’s in Florence, that includes, Piazza della Repubblica, Signoria, Santa Croce, will soon have free WiFi for everyone. I have also placed a web link below that show all the free WiFi areas in the city, but be wear, you may need to gain an access code, which may involve purchasing something first.
If you’re staying here for longer than your average holiday and need to have your own internet, then you could purchase an internet ‘Key’, which is basically a USB stick that connects to the internet through mobile phone signals, not the fasted way to access the net, but if you’re in need of access and don’t live close to an internet café this may be a feasible option.
Of course even Apartments Florence has even embraced Facebook, we use it to keep in touch with our clients and friends, but we also, from time to time, put up exclusive deals and promotion as well. Why don’t you join us and see what offers we have for our friend. Just look us up. Of course if you do decide to book with us, 99% of our apartments have full unlimited wireless internet free of charge.
