Florence’s largest green space and a great place for families
Cascine Park is Florence’s largest green space and a beautiful place to spend your day. Located on the west end of the historic city center along the Arno River, this huge span of gardens, fields and pathways is a great retreat from the busy city center and a wonderful place for families to spend an afternoon.
Once part of the Medici estate used for hunting purposes, then turned into a leisure destination by the Grand-Duchy of Lorraine, this giant park is a favorite of locals for leisure activities such as running, sun bathing, soccer games, bike rides, dog walking swimming and more.
The park features beautiful running and walking trails, soccer fields, a beautiful and lovely swimming pool, bike rentals, river walks and lovely water features and places to park for afternoon picnics. There are also nightclubs, weekend fairs and children’s carnivals and often weekend events such as concerts and outdoor cooking during the summer months.
