Just outside the little town of Lamole, you find “Il Villino,” a 19th century villa. Please contact us for availability & rates!
Il Villino:
The building, created at the end of the 1800s, by architect Giuseppe Poggi, has a façade displaying Neo-classical forms with the taste of Florentine mannerism of the 1500s.
Once inside, you are immediately captivated by a seducing atmosphere of the tranquil life of the elite of times-gone-by. The recent restoration has brought to light hidden treasures, decorative frescoes and the original furnishings.
On the ground floor, as was customary in the past, the kitchen area was the most lived-in of the entire house. Today, for this reason, there is an enjoyable sitting area with the original hearth in grey stone, the breakfast room and the actual kitchen.
Also located on the ground floor is a very large dining room, with a table which can be opened to accommodate up to 16 people, a comfortable study, and small bathroom. In the adjacent garden there is a delightful veranda, under the shade of the linden trees, for dining and relaxing outdoors.
On the first floor a grandiose staircase climbs upstairs to find the sleeping area. There are three double rooms (or double twin upon request), one bathroom with a shower and small tub, as well as two other bathrooms, each with a shower. All of the furnishings are original to the estate.
The park, which can be described as a typical Italian “giardino,” or garden, offers lovely shaded corners for reading, chatting and relaxing. In the summer evenings, the fresh air of the countryside is particularly appreciated, especially while enjoying the spectacular sunsets and dinners by candlelight.
There is a lovely stone path which leads, through the fruit orchards, to a 12x6m swimming pool, surrounded by vineyards, olive groves, rose bushes and…… an enchanting panorama.
Le Scuderie:
Just behind the villa, there is a structure which once served as the horse stables for the main villa.
After an enthusiastic restoration, the stables were transformed into two large apartments with two separate entrances, which at the same time are joined by an internal staircase which would allow the apartments to be made in to one enormous house.
The floor above, which can be accessed from the panoramic terrace, opens up to a lovely living room with an old fireplace in stone and a small kitchen. Off to the side are three bedrooms: the pink room with a romantic queen-size poster bed, the yellow room with a queen-size restored antique bed and the green room with a single bed. Each room has its own bathroom with a shower, and one even has a full-sized bath tub.
The kitchen is fully equipped with stove top, oven, microwave oven, refrigerator/ freezer, dishwasher. The TV has satellite.
On the ground floor, from the large stone patio, is a huge living area with an impressive fireplace which dates back to the 1700s. A study room which can be closed off with two single beds, a bathroom and adjoining changing room. The master bedroom is decorated with an amusing trompe l’oeil painting which covers the entire wall behind the headboard with a great surprise! Complete with full bath with shower and changing room. The cozy kitchen which leads out to the patio, has a wood-burning oven which is original to the house, as well as a stove top, oven, dishwasher, refrigerator/ freezer, and washing machine.
The large patio has an antique stone table which faces the valley of the Greve river with its cool woods and terraced vineyards which represent the characteristic countryside of the “true” Chianti region.
